In a heartbreaking turn of events, a 23-year-old mobile money vendor from the Awutu Senya West District in the Central Region has tragically taken his own life due to a GHC16,000 debt.

The deceased, identified as Kwabena Gideon, had been employed in Awutu Akrampa as a mobile money vendor, where he encountered significant financial losses totaling GHC16,000 within just two weeks.

Reports indicate that two days prior to the incident, Kwabena's employer had lodged a complaint with the police, stating that they were unable to reach him.

According to a neighbor named Faustina Asare, Kwabena appeared visibly distressed on Saturday morning, February 24, 2024.

She observed him standing behind an unfinished building but did not engage him further at the time.

Shockingly, approximately an hour later, cries from neighbors alerted her to the discovery of Kwabena's lifeless body behind the same building.

The tragic incident has left behind a grieving family, as Kwabena was married and had a one-year-old son.

During a subsequent search, a container suspected to have held Dichlorodiphenyltrichloroethane (DDT), a chemical used to kill fish, was found.

Authorities have transported the deceased's body to the Winneba Trauma and Specialist Hospital for autopsy and preservation.

Meanwhile, the police have initiated an investigation into the circumstances surrounding Kwabena's untimely death.
