An outspoken lecturer at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) Dr. Amakye Boateng, has declared his intention to run as an independent candidate for the 2020 Presidential and Parliamentary election to enable him rule the country in the manner he deems fit for Ghanaians.

Speaking to Kumasi based radio station Angel FM, the Political Science lecturer indicated that, the two parties that have ruled in the fourth republic have all not been able to reach the standard they promised the people of Ghana.

Stressing on, he said that President Akufo Addo and the former President John Mahama even failed in a quest to improve on the standard of living of Ghanaians.

He said, “Akufo-Addo and John Mahama all have failed and I think Ghanaians should not give them any more chance for to lead”.

He further said that the current government does not listen to any advice that comes from the expertise with sound knowledge on governance.

Declaring his intention to run, he indicated that, his running mate will come from the Volta region, as he, a person from Ashanti region, a stronghold of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) and the Volta region being the stronghold of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), have both been taken for granted.

“As somebody from Ashanti Region, my running mate will come from the Volta Region the stronghold of the National Democratic Congress (NDC)”.

He said, “The NDC have taken people in the Volta Region for granted and NPP same in Ashanti Region for a period of years they ruled. … people in these regions should not give them chance”.

The Lecturer in September last year had pointed an accusing finger on President Akufo Addo saying he was running away from fighting corruption on Abusua FM in Kumasi.

He said, sighting the BOST issue “On the issue of Bulk Oil Storage and Transportation Company Limited (BOST), nothing showed the New Patriotic Party (NPP) government led by Nana Addo made an attempt to do something. We didn’t hear the government say ‘I will not allow corruption to operate’. Nana Addo had an opportunity to show his politics……. He ran away from it”.

He stated emphatically with regards to compete in 2020 saying, “2020 I will contest as an independent presidential candidate”
