The Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly  (KMA)has taken the initiative of introducing special tricycles locally known as 'Aboboya' for the conveyance of solid waste in the region.

On the event which was organised introduce the new way of disposing off solid waste in the region, the Kumasi Mayor Mayor Osei Assibey Antwi said that the tricycles have been branded in a different way to make it loo different from the other tricycles used for conveying food stuffs in the metropolis.

Speaking to the press however, the Minster  in charge of Sanitation in the country Hon Joseph kofi Adda has charged metropolis, municipalities and districts across the country to follow in the suit of the KMA in ensuring that the country is clean from the dirt that it is engulfed in.

He further hailed the KMA for the bold initiative it has taken in ensuring that solid waste is conveyed in the branded tricycles and charged the residents in the metropolis to conform to the demands of the KMA in ensuring cleanliness saying that without their cooperation, the efforts taken will be in vein.

He also urged that the residents who do not follow the demands in the discharge of the solid waste by the tricycles to be reported.

Ghana as a country has been faced with the challenge of ensuring a clean country with various methods of discharging wastes in the country introduced by governments.

The previous administration had earlier introduced a national sanitation day in November 2014 which required the citizens across the country to engage in a clean up exercise in every first day of the month.
