The Vice-President of Ghana, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia has expressed gratitude to Ghanaians for giving the NPP the opportunity to serve the country.

Dr Bawumia on the occasion to mark the first-year anniversary of the 2016 elections which brought the NPP into power, reiterated that he and his boss, President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo are willing to fulfill their promises  to Ghanaians.

He posted on Facebook: “A year ago today, we lined up in our millions, unmindful of the Sun and rain, and took the decision to effect a change in our national fortunes.

“My boss Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, the NPP and I will be forever grateful for the opportunity to serve mother Ghana and implement destiny-changing policies and programmes.

“We will remain faithful to our pledge to the good people of Ghana, and ask for your constant prayer and support as we continue on the quest to move Ghana to her rightful place in the comity of nations. May God bless our homeland Ghana.”

A year ago, Nana Akufo-Addo, then-presidential candidate of the NPP in the 7 December 2016 elections, secured 53.85 per cent of the valid votes cast to become Ghana’s fifth president under the fourth Republic, beating his closest rival, then-incumbent John Dramani Mahama of the National Democratic Congress.
