Senior Programmes officer at the Ghana Centre for Democratic Development (CDD Ghana), Mr. Paul Mensah Aborampa has said Special Prosecutor nominee, Martin Alamisi Burnes Kaiser Amidu’s character goes beyond politics.

His comment comes after the President, Nana Akufo-Addo on Thursday named the former Attorney General and Minister of Justice, Matin Amidu as the first Special Prosecutor.

Speaking on Peace News, Mr. Aborampa said, even though Martin Amidu is a member of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), he does not have a political colour when it comes to the fight against corruption in the country,

“…It is true Martin Amidu is an NDC member who has served his party in diverse ways but you and I know that when it comes to the fight against corruption in this country, he doesn’t have political colours”, he said.

According to Mr. Aborampa, Mr. Amidu was widely commended because he single-handedly went to court for the retrieval of Ghc.51 million judgment debt from known NDC businessman, Alfred Wayome.

He said the office of the Special Prosecutor needed such an experienced Ghanaian legal practitioner who has the nation at heart.

“…Ghana needed someone who will not be looking at political colours, someone with a long qualification as legal practitioner and has Ghana’s interest at heart. Amidu’s actions and characters go beyond politics”, he reiterated.
