Some residents of Ashongman in Accra foiled a robbery attack of a suspected robber who shot two occupants of a house and attempted to make away with his booty.

The suspected robber, Dickson Ofori, 24, who was wielding a pistol, was overpowered by neighbours of the victims and his weapon taken from him.

The two victims, aged 38 and 30, whose identities the police are keeping under wraps, sustained gunshot wounds and were taken to the 37 Military Hospital in Accra.

Briefing

Briefing the Daily Graphic, the Public Relations Officer of the Accra Regional Police Command, Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Mrs Effia Tenge, said some items, including three mobile phones, a laptop and a wi-fi device which the robber had taken from his victims, were also retrieved.

According to her, the Kwabenya Police had received a report last Wednesday about the robbery attack which happened at about 3:30 a.m. and had since initiated investigations into the matter.
