Asante Kotoko captain Ibrahim Danlad has spoken out about the club's disappointing performance in the second round of the Ghana Premier League season, expressing concern over their recent run of results.

The Porcupine Warriors have endured a challenging period, managing just one win, a draw, and seven defeats in their last nine games, prompting a crisis meeting with the club's Life Patron, His Royal Majesty Otumfuo Osei Tutu II.

In a candid conversation with the club's media, Danlad acknowledged the team's poor performance and issued a heartfelt apology to the loyal supporters of Asante Kotoko.

"We would first like to apologize to our supporters because we know they don’t deserve this kind of result and the turmoil within the team. However, we want to assure them that we are fully committed to turning things around," stated Danlad.

Reflecting on the gravity of the situation, Danlad revealed the personal toll it has taken on the players, admitting that many of them are struggling to sleep amidst the disappointment.

"It’s very, very bad because many of us can’t even sleep, considering what we aspire to achieve for Asante Kotoko and our own careers.

This current form does not reflect positively on us as players. But we understand it's part of the job, and our focus now is on working hard and staying focused to change our fortunes," he emphasized.

Despite the challenging circumstances, Danlad remained optimistic about Asante Kotoko's prospects in their upcoming crucial encounter against Samartex FC on Sunday.

Acknowledging the importance of the loyal supporters during these testing times, Danlad expressed confidence in the team's ability to bounce back and secure victory.

"This is the time we need our supporters the most, and I understand their pain as I am also a supporter of this great club.

However, in these moments, patience is key. We have no excuses come Sunday, and I firmly believe we will emerge victorious. I have 100% faith in our abilities," concluded Danlad, rallying his teammates and fans alike ahead of the pivotal match.
