President of the Badminton in Ghana, Mr Evans Yeboah has revealed that the sport will be introduced in basic and second cycle institutions across Ghana.

According to Mr Yeboah, several Physical Education teachers will be selected and capacitated to teach the sport in their various schools.

Speaking to Ashh FM sports, the head of Badminton reiterated the organisation’s aim of making the sport popular in the country.

“We are selecting a total of ten PE teachers in every region across Ghana for this exercise. So they will be about 100 in number”

“What we are going to do is to train these teachers and give them the necessary certificates to even teach Badminton outside Ghana” he continued

He further revealed that this exercise will start effective next month.
“We are looking forward to kick-starting this exercise next month”

Touching on support from government organisations and the sports ministry, he revealed that the Sports ministry has promised to provide the Badminton community with assistance.

“It is often difficult to get financial assistance with sports in the country. However we will like to take this opportunity to thank the sports ministry because last year they really supported us.
The kind of support they gave us has never been received by us and that is very encouraging”

He also stated that the Badminton community has established good relationships with private companies who are all looking forward to helping their course.

The Ghana Badminton team will participate in the Commonwealth games later in the year and will start camping towards the games on the 23rd of January 2018 for about a month.
