The basketball team of Accra-based Radford University College last Saturday played a more determined game to defeat highly-fancied Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology 89-78 to prove their worth as a team to watch in the elite division.

The game, played at the basketball court of KNUST to foster cordial relations between the two institutions, saw both teams displaying much skills and shooting power. But it was Radford which proved superior as the game wore on and succeeded in outscoring their host to win the bragging rights of the day.

Speaking to the Graphic Sports after the match, the Executive Chairman of Radford University, Nana Kwabena Dwomo Sarpong, expressed satisfaction with the skills displayed in the match.

He said notwithstanding the fact that the Accra-based team was formed barely a year ago, they proved that they had the potential to compete locally and at the international level.

He said more of such matches would be arranged at that level in future as a way of nurturing and developing the potentials of basketball players in the universities.
