Ghana Premier League side Asante Kotoko will be hoping to begin their title quest in the CAF Champions League on a winning note.

The Porcupines will face an acid test against Nigerian giants Kano Pillars at the Ahmedu Bello Stadium on Saturday.

Masu Gida will start the match as slight favorites because of their home advantage, however the Ghanaian side will be counting on their experience and pedigree in the tournament.

Kotoko’s last appearance in the Champions League was in 2015. The Porcupines were eliminated in the first-round by Algerian side MC El Eulma.

Kano Pillars will be making their six appearance in the CAF inter club competition with their best outing being in 2009 where they reached the semi-final stage by beating Egyptian giants, Al Ahly.

The winner of the two-legged match will progress to the final round to play either Hafia FC of Guinea or Tunisian club, Etoile du Sahel.
