Ghana Premier League Champions Aduana Stars will take a narrow lead to Algeria for the return leg in the second round of the preliminary stage of this year’s CAF Champions League against Es Setif after recording a 1-0 win on Wednesday.

Sam Adam’s second-half penalty was all that separated the teams at the Nana Agyemang Badu Park I with work still to do if they are to avoid suffering an early exit from the continental competition.

The Fire Boys dominated the exchanges with Derrick Sassraku and Zakari Mumuni all having sights of goal, but Yusif Abubakar’s men had to wait until the 73rd minute to go ahead.

The Dormaa-based side could become the first Ghanaian club to make it to the group stages of the competition since Berekum Chelsea in 2012, if they avoid defeat against ES Setif in Algeria.

The second leg which is scheduled to take place on March, 17 could prove to be a daunting task for Aduana who have never scored an away goal in the continent’s flagship club competition.
