Popular Ghanaian comedian Derick Kobina Bonney, popularly known in the showbiz industry as DKB, has threatened to sue the self-acclaimed manager of embattled actress, Rosemond Alade Brown, for defamation.

It comes after one Divine Jones, who claims to be the manager of the actress popularly known as Akuapem Poloo, lambasted DKB for raising funds on behalf of the lady without the management’s concern.

Jones was of the assertion that as others are truly concerned about the situation of Akuapem Poloo, others are just pretending whilst others are also just hypocrites, but the point when someone like DKB goes around taking donations without consulting management or legal team of his client was wrong.

However, according to DKB, out of compassion, he decided to use his influence as a celebrity and a friend of the embattled lady to raise funds to support the left behind son as she serves her 90-day jail term, which was in consultation with Akuapem Poloo, and so, he felt betrayed by the whole saga and went to enquire from her in prison, only to realized the said manger is an imposter.

“I went to visit Akuapem Poloo in prison and she told me the guy is not her manager, there is no contract whatsoever and that the Jones guy was just an aid," he told B&FT.

"And I believe her because even the number I was using to solicit funds is for Akuapem Poloo so it means the guy do not even know her number and how can a manager not know his client’s number?

"I am therefore going to sue him in court for defamation, tarnishing my image and passing demeaning comments that undermine my dignity, because now in Ghana the laws work and no one can just misbehave and go unpunished."

He used the opportunity to caution all the young guys in the country who go around making defamation comments against people and impersonating others or claiming to be what they are not to desist from such practices because when they are caught, the law will deal with them.

It will be recalled that few days ago, social influence and actress Akuapem Poloo was sentenced to 90 days in prison after pleading guilty to publication of obscene material contrary to the Criminal Offences Act, 1960 (Act 29), engaging in domestic violence, namely a conduct that, in any way, undermined another person's privacy or integrity, contrary to Section 1(d) (iii) and 3(2) of the Domestic Violence Act, 2007 (Act732), and engaging in domestic violence, namely conduct that, in any way, detracted or was likely to detract from another person's dignity and worth as a human being, contrary to Act 732.

It was in respect of her imprisonment that DKB deemed it feet to solicit funds in support of the embattled actress
