Some workers of a deported Indian business Expatriate, Mr Ashok Sivaram of the Jai Mai Communications Limited in the country have indicated that, they are waiting for clearance to embark on a demonstration for the return of their boss.

Mr Ashok was deported from the country in 2017 on the grounds that, his marriage certificate for seeking citizenship in Ghana was forged.

Based on this, the Interior Minister Hon. Ambrose Dery has issued a command that, the businessman should be deported.

Meanwhile, the employees under Mr Ashok have stated that, the action taken against their boss was out of place and unfair, which is causing them difficulties at their workplace, with the fear that they may even lose their jobs due to his absence.

Speaking on Accra based radio station Citi FM, Richard Ankrah, one of the employees had said, “Our next action is that by Friday we are embarking on a protest. We are waiting for the permission of the Police as well. We have written to them and we are waiting that they will give us the permission to do a peaceful demonstration to plead with the government to kindly grant him the visa and the residence permit as well.”

The lawyer of Mr Ashok sought the Judicial review at the High Court and won the case against the Ghana Immigration Service (GIS), who deported Mr Ashok on the grounds that, he was illegally living in the country.

After the failure to comply to the rulings of the High Court, the lawyer sought for another review at the Appeal Court and the ruling went in his favour for the second time.

However, the GIS after seeking to a stay proceedings after being debunked a second time and forced to desist from harassing the businessman went to the Court of Appeal with a representative from the office of the Attorney General and was turned down.

They further took up the issue to the Supreme Court which sided with them and dismissed the grounds on which the High Court and the Court of Appeal had earlier ruled in favour of the businessman.
