The Minister for Environment, Science, Technology and Innovation Professor Frimpong -Boateng has hinted that his outfit has completed drafting the national Science,Technology, and Innovation policy and will soon go to Parliament for approval.

President Akufo Addo has charged the ministry to prepare the policy to improve the country’s technological performance as well as its innovation systems.

Addressing the media, Professor Frimpong Boateng said he is positive the policy will aid in sustainable youth development.

“The President has charged us in this ministry to do certain things. One is to prepare a national science, technology, and innovation policy. It is completed now and it will go through the process, cabinet, parliament, and others and we will all be guided by this policy”.

He was speaking at a ceremony to congratulate two innovative Ghanaian companies Agrocenta and Qisimah who excelled in digital innovation with social impact at the 2017 global top 40 world summit awards.

Ghana’s winners topped the field in Business and Commerce as well as Environment and Green Energy.

Agrocenta uses the latest digital technologies to support farmers in smart environmental practices, efficient access to markets and increasing farm profitability.

Qisima, on the other hand, provides artistes with a way of tracking which stations are playing their music and where it is being heard and in this way supports both better marketing as well as ensuring that all forms of copyright are respected.

Prof. Frimpong-Boateng noted that “both products contribute to the national goals of improving income and job-creation”.
