The president of the Ghana Badminton Federation (GBF), Mr Evans Yeboah has confirmed that two massive deals have been struck with some global sponsors to partner in the development of the sport in Ghana.

He explained that primary discussions has already been held and one sponsor has pledged to support all their 154 tournaments that will played in the next five years.

The other will be focused on workshops and other development agenda like the ‘100 teacher training’ project.

The President said talks are still ongoing to bring more of such sponsors on board which will help improve the popularity of the sport in Ghana.

Mr. Yeboah also disclosed that Ghana will sign a memorandum of understanding with Hungary Badminton Federation next month in Budapest that is going to kick start technical assistant to local coaches and officials.

Ghana’s Badminton teams are set to participate in the Youth Olympics as well as representing Africa, as the best team on the continent in May, 2018 at the World Male Team Championship.

The team racked up an impressive 19 medals from 9 tournaments in 2017.
