Nigeriadefender who plays for Turkish side Fenerbahce, Bright Osayi-Samuel, is confronting the prospect of a significant suspension following an altercation with a Trabzonspor fan over the weekend.

The incident occurred after Fenerbahce secured a narrow 3-2 victory against Trabzonspor on Sunday, bringing them within two points of league leaders Galatasaray.

Following the match, chaos erupted as home supporters invaded the pitch.

A video circulating on social media captured Osayi-Samuel, the Super Eagles defender, engaging in self-defence against a violent attack from a Trabzonspor fan, during which he was seen throwing punches in response.

According to reports from Turkey's Leo Sports, Osayi-Samuel may face a suspension of up to 10 games as a consequence of his involvement in the altercation.

There's a possibility that the matter will be referred to the Turkish Football Federation (TFF) Disciplinary Committee, who will have the final say on the punishment.

Under Article 44 of the Turkish football discipline regulations, Osayi-Samuel could be suspended for a period ranging from several weeks to a year, with the disciplinary committee empowered to determine the severity of the penalty.

Osayi-Samuel is expected to argue self-defence during the upcoming hearing scheduled for Tuesday, April 2nd, in an effort to justify his actions.

The outcome of the hearing will dictate the extent of any sanctions imposed on the 26-year-old defender.
