Accra Hearts of Oak booked a place in the finals of the GHALCA G8 tournament after beating Kotoko 4-2 on penalties at Babayara Sports Stadium on Wednesday.

Both teams could not find a breakthrough in regulation time despite creating several chances in a entertaining goalless draw.

Christopher Bonney stepped up first for the Accra-based club in the shoot out and converted his kick expertly, Jackson Owusu missed the first kick for Kotoko to hand Hearts the advantage.

Francis Morton and Baba Mahama both scored the second kicks for Hearts and Kotoko respectively to bring the score at 2-1.

Defender Richard Akrofi missed the third kick for the rainbow boys while Awudu Nafiu scored for the Porcupine Warriors to level matters at 2-2.

Patrick Razak stepped up and scored the 4th kick for Hearts while Eric Donko crucially missed his kick for the Fabulous club.

Midfielder Malik Akowuah came forward with an opportunity to win it for the Phobians and made no mistake as he comfortably dispatched his kick past the goalkeeper to elimate sworn-enemies Kumasi Asante Kotoko from the tournament.

The Phobians await the result between the other semi-finals clash between Medeama SC and Dreams FC at the Cape Coast Stadium to determine who they face in the finals of the competition.
