Ghanaian defender Alidu Seidu has conveyed his sense of privilege upon signing with French Ligue 1 club Stade Rennais.

The versatile 23-year-old completed the move from fellow French top-flight side Clermont Foot, with the transfer fee estimated to be around €11 million.

Following his return from the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations, where he had limited playing time, the Black Stars defender successfully underwent mandatory medical checks.

Seidu sealed the deal by signing a four-year contract that will keep him with Stade Rennais until 2028.

Expressing his joy after the announcement of the transfer, Seidu emphasized the greatness of Stade Rennais as a club and the honor he feels in joining their ranks.

He expressed gratitude for his time at Clermont, describing it as a period where he received tremendous support and felt like part of a family.

“Stade Rennais is a great club and it's a great privilege for me. I had a great time at Clermont, they gave me everything and welcomed me like a member of the family. I became a man there, and the adventure continues at Rennes and I'm very happy about that.

“I'm a player who doesn't like to lose, I'm a fighter, I give everything for my colleagues and I'm always looking to progress.”

Seidu sees his journey continuing with Stade Rennais and expressed immense happiness about the prospect.

In describing his playing style, Seidu emphasized his aversion to losing, highlighting his identity as a dedicated fighter on the field.

He emphasized his commitment to giving his all for his colleagues and expressed a perpetual drive to seek progress in his career.
