The Ghana National Petroleum Company (GNPC) is set to enter a partnership deal with the four times champions of the Ghana premier league, Ash Gold Sporting club to strengthen the financial status of the club.

The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the club as well as the Chairman of the Ghana League Club Association (GHALCA), Cudjoe Fianoo is reported to have met the management of the club on Tuesday to brief them about the decision of the board.

Reports from the club has it that Cudjoe Fianoo has been requested not to engage in any recruitment exercise until the deal with GNPC is finalised to determine the focus of the club.

However, speaking to FOX FM, Cudjoe Fianoo denied having any meetings with the board management but stated that the management of the club will welcome any takeover or partnership proposal.

He said " I'm in Accra, I have not met with the management to discuss anything".

"The issue of Anglo Gold Ashanti looking for strategic partnership to run Ashgold has been in the system for over ten years now, and personally if I meet any investors of such I will lead them to Anglo Gold Ashanti" he said.

Ashgold in the 2017 league season struggled their way out of the relegation zone with the timely intervention of the former Black Stars legend CK Akonnor who took over as coach from Bashiru Hayford.
