Former Hearts of Oak Football Club management member, Alhaji Fawaz Zowk, has expressed his worry about misfortunes that have hit the club in recent times, making it impossible to annex the premiership title for the past nine years now.

He said the ‘Phobia’ club has suffered a lot through mismanagement and has also expressed his willingness to help the club back to its glorious ways.

In an interview with OTEC FM Royal Sports, Alhaji Fawaz Zowk said “this is not my Hearts of Oak is used to know, I’m not happy about how things are run in the club. The future of the club is bleak and I’m ready to help if am been called upon because I was born a Phobian and by God grace, I will die a Phobian”.

He revealed that that the recent predicaments of the club is due to managements’ policy of introducing professionalism into the club at the detriment of the club’s ‘traditions’, that has kept and made it won many laurels.

“Hearts of Oak is a traditional club, if you want to implement professionalism you should make sure the professionalism goes in-line with the tradition, If you remove the traditional aspect from the team, it will be an ‘ordinary’ club” Zowk added.

“Both Accra Hearts of Oak and Kumasi Asante Kotoko are now ordinary clubs; they can win, draw or lose at any time. But, in those days after a game, you will ask how many goals were scored, you will not ask whether we were beating or not. Players who played for Hearts of Oak in our time considered it as a big honour playing for, but why are we now chasing players to play for the club,” Alhaji Fawaz asked.

“The club must target stars and young talents in the country who can bring back the supporters to the stadium, players who can absolve pressure from the supporter. They shouldn’t always go for matured and ‘already made’ who cannot change the misfortunes of the club,” he said.
