Freiburg SC's attacking midfielder, Daniel-Kofi Kyereh, remains in rehabilitation after sustaining a torn anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) injury during training in February 2023.

This setback has left his return to the field without a definitive timeline.

Kyereh, who previously endured a similar injury in July 2015, requiring nine months of rehabilitation, is currently undergoing his recovery process in Barcelona, Spain, as confirmed by Freiburg to 3Sports.

Despite this, no specific date has been provided for his comeback.

While there had been signs of progress in July 2023, with Kyereh's recovery described as advancing daily, Freiburg's head coach, Christian Streich, hinted at a prolonged absence due to recurring issues in his rehabilitation.

Streich likened Kyereh's recovery to a staircase, emphasizing progress made step by step but with occasional setbacks.

Acknowledging the potential impact of Kyereh's previous ACL tear on his current rehabilitation, Streich expressed uncertainty about the midfielder's return to action, especially with less than three months remaining in the season.

To regain full fitness, Kyereh must undergo a thorough process, including pain clearance, strength-building exercises, ball work, and eventual participation in group training and low-intensity matches.

Considering the anticipated lengthy absence, Kyereh's potential return to action for Ghana may be delayed until September, especially after being ruled out of contention for this year's Africa Cup of Nations in Ivory Coast due to his injury.
