National Women’s Organizer of the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP), Kate Gyamfua, has revealed the reason behind the party’s abysmal parliamentary performance in the Central Region during the 2020 polls.

Out of the 23 seats in the region, the NPP won 10 while the National Democratic Congress(NDC) came from its original 4 seats in 2016 including Cape Coast South, Agona South, Ajumako-Enyan-Essiam and Komenda-Edina-Eguafo-Abbrem constituencies to win nine more making their total 13.

Speaking at the vetting of Metropolitan, Municipal and District Assemblies (MMDCEs), Madam Kate Gyamfua noted that though President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo beat John Mahama in the majority votes, the performance of the parliamentary was not satisfactory.

This she observed was partly because of internal bickering in the party within the Region with unresolved apathy that occurred during the Parliamentary primaries.

She therefore appealed to the aspirants MMDCEs not to make such mistakes again that led the party to loss many seats but support whoever will be called.
