The Madina District of the Singing Band Union, under the Ga Presbytery of the Presbyterian Church of Ghana (PCG), recently concluded its highly anticipated 26th Annual Delegates Conference.

The event, held on the 22nd of July, 2023 at the Good Shepherd Congregation, was a vibrant celebration of faith, unity, and talent within the local congregations.

With participants from seven congregations, including Good Shepherd, Saviour, Immanuel, Redemption, Grace, Faith, and Bethlehem, the conference showcased an array of activities, culminating in a thanksgiving service on the 23rd of September.

The conference commenced with an atmosphere of excitement and enthusiasm as the participants engaged in a spirited Bible Quiz Competition.

Testing their understanding of the book of Colossians and the history of the PCG and Singing Band, each congregation demonstrated their dedication to learning and deepening their faith.

The Quiz Competition became a melting pot of knowledge, with each congregation showcasing their passion for the scriptures and the church’s history.

Bethlehem emerged as the champions, their profound understanding of the Bible and church heritage setting them apart. Saviour secured the second position, a testament to their unwavering commitment to both faith and learning. Faith, with their commendable performance, claimed the third spot, followed closely by Redemption in fourth place.

While the competition fueled a spirit of friendly rivalry, it was evident that the true winners were the collective participants who united in a common pursuit of strengthening their faith through knowledge. Good Shepherd, Grace, and Immanuel also received recognition for their active participation and dedication to the enriching experience.

With hearts still aglow from the Bible Quiz Competition, the atmosphere transformed into a harmonious symphony as the various singing groups took center stage for the Singing Competition. This segment became a soul-stirring display of vocal talent, musical diversity, and heartfelt worship, showcasing the essence of the Singing Band Union.

Each band poured their hearts and souls into their performances, offering a unique and heartfelt expression of praise. Saviour’s resplendent performance earned them the well-deserved first place in the Singing Competition, captivating the audience with their soulful melodies and seamless harmonies.

Not far behind, Bethlehem’s captivating rendition secured them the second position, their voices resonating with unwavering devotion. However, it is important to emphasize that every participating congregation shone brightly, contributing to the collective aura of praise and worship that filled the venue.

As the event drew to a close, the Madina District’s Annual Delegates Conference culminated in a heartwarming thanksgiving ceremony on Sunday. The Good Shepherd Congregation, the gracious host of the conference, welcomed all the local singing bands from the various congregations for this soulful and joyous service.

The preacher of the sermon, Mrs. Josephine Asiedu, a revered Presbyter from the Good Shepherd Congregation, delivered a powerful message of inspiration and encouragement. Drawing from the first Bible Reading of Genesis 28:10-19, she eloquently conveyed the importance of striving for God’s glory in all aspects of life. Mrs. Asiedu warmly extended her heartfelt Akwaaba (welcome) to all the Singing Band members present, emphasizing the significance of their dedication and service to God through music.

The theme for the thanksgiving service, “Strive for God’s Glory,” resonated deeply with the congregation and the Singing Band Union members, serving as a reminder of their collective purpose and commitment to worship and praise.

True to their reputation, the Singing Band led a multitude of uplifting songs during the service, prompting many attendees to rise to their feet and dance in jubilation. Their vibrant melodies and harmonies reverberated throughout the sanctuary, creating an atmosphere of pure celebration and heartfelt devotion.

Moreover, the Singing Band’s unique and dynamic style of dancing and footwork added an extra dimension of excitement and exuberance to the occasion, captivating the hearts of all who witnessed their spirited performance.
