Martin Luther King School Taekwondo Club at Ashaiman emerged winners of the third edition of the "I Love Taekwondo" Video Contest organised by the Ghana Taekwondo Federation (GTF), aimed at developing the sport in Ghana.

The contest, held at the Korean Sports Complex at Community Three, Tema, was organised in partnership with the Korea Embassy in Ghana.

The tournament was opened to taekwondo clubs registered under the Ghana Taekwondo Federation (GTF) and the participating clubs were judged based on a short video, on the topic, “How Taekwondo Changes My Life”.

The second and third positions went to Mobi Squad and Queens Court Taekwondo clubs respectively.

The first and second position winners took home Taekwondo floor mats, while other teams received uniforms, head and chest protectors and other training gears as well as certificates.

In all, 17 presentations were selected for screening.

Other clubs that participated were , Dar es Salaam, Ghana Tsoboi, Meghis, Prisons, Prixmax Warriors, Rangoon, Solomon Bennett, SOS Herman-Gmeiner, Sesi, Siloam, St. Augustine Anglican, Tamale, Triple A, University of Education, and Wagri Barracks.

GTF president, Frederick Otu Lartey, congratulated the participants and the winners on their commitment to the sport. He said competitions such as these went a long way to promote the development of the sport and unearth more talents for the nation.

Mr Lartey, who is also a Council Member of World Taekwondo Africa, indicated that last Saturday’s contest was the federation’s last activity for the year.

He said in preparation for some continental and world championships lined up in the first quarter of next year, the GTF intended to organise a championship event to select a team for the World Taekwondo Junior Championship and Youth Olympics to be held in Tunisia as well as the African Senior Championship in Morrocco.
