Deputy Sports Minister Pius Enam Hadzidze says government is taking the right process to ensure that the naming of the Tamale Sports Stadium after the late Vice-President under the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Alhaji Aliu Mahama, is made legal to prevent any other government from changing it in the future.

This procedure to get the legal backing to it has come up due to the changing of the Accra Sports Stadium under the NPP government to the Ohene Djan Sports Stadium, but was later reverted to the Accra Sports Stadium when the National Democratic Congress (NDC) came into power.
According to the minister, the sports ministry is consulting the Attorney-General’s Department and Chief Justice to make sure that the naming gets the backing of the law.
The ceremony took place yesterday, where high-ranking officials of the government, football administrators and players and a host of other dignitaries graced the occasion.
