President Nana Akufo-Addo has suspended the Upper West Regional Minister, Sulemana Alhassan "with immediate effect" after he was implicated in an attack against the Upper West Regional Office of NADMO.

Sulemana Alhassan is reported to have shielded a group of angry youth believed to be members of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), who attacked the NADMO office on Wednesday evening.

His suspension comes amid a threat by workers NADMO to boycott work on on Thursday.

The youth, according to the Regional Director of NADMO, Issahaku Abubakari, belong to an aggrieved aspirant of the constituency elections who is not happy that people he sponsored were losing the electoral area polls of the party.

Mr. Abubakari, who is also the regional organiser of the NPP, revealed he decided to have the elections of some electoral areas suspended in the Wa East Constituency following some irregularities.

Alhassan Suleiman is reported to have ordered the release of the suspects after the police got to the scene of the disturbances and effected some arrests.

He reportedly told the police that ” This is a party matter, I will have a meeting with them and get back to you”.  After that, the attackers walked home freely.

A statement from the flag staff house says the Deputy Upper West Regional Minister, Amidu Ishaq, will act in the stead of the suspended Minister pending the conclusion of an investigation into the incident.
