Former President John Dramani Mahama was conspicuously absent at the third-day funeral of the wife of the National Chief Imam, Hajia Rahmatu Tahwee Sheikh Sharubutu.

The beloved wife of the Chief Imam passed away on Monday, and the customary third-day funeral prayers was held for her by the National Chief Imam at his residence.

Scores of people from all walks of life attended the event to commiserate with the respected National Chief Imam, but conspicuously absent was former President John Mahama.

A delegation of the NDC, including Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, Mahama Ayariga and Ussif Jaja, who were at the funeral, told the Chief Imam and the gathering that Mahama could not attend because he was out of the country.

However, it has emerged that it was a lie to the Chief Imam by the delagation as former President Mahama was indeed in town and had not travelled out of town, as the delegation announced at the function.

On the same Friday Mahama ignored the funeral and was said to be out of the country, he was busy launching a secretariat for his party's youth wing, a viral video has confirmed.

The third-day funeral prayers was attended by dignitaries including Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, whose delegation included Minuster of Finance Dr. Mohammed Amin Adam, Minister for Chieftaincy and Religious Affairs Stephen Asamoah Boateng, Presidential Coordinator for Zongo Development Ben Abdallah Banda, Former NPP General Secretary Kwabena Adjei Agyapong, among others.
