Majority Chief Whip and MP for Nsawam-Adoagyiri, Hon. Frank Annoh-Dompreh has today paid a courtesy call on the German Ambassador to Ghana, HE. Christoph Retziaff to discuss the building of waste to energy power plant to treat urban solid waste in Nsawam.

The Nsumia Disposal site is one of the biggest landfill, located in the Nsawam-Adoagyiri Municipality off the Accra Nsawam highway, is about 680,000 cubic metres which is serving Accra and its surrounding areas.

Speaking to the media, Hon. Annor Dompreh disclosed that the landfill site is posing as a threat to the health of those living around.

“Nsawam have one of the biggest landfill site. Those living around are really suffering but it is a property that can be converted into energy.”

“The experts from Germany told me they’ve started something in Kumasi and they are looking up to build 10 centres across Ghana. So I came to lob one to help curtail the landfill site polluting the environment in Nsawam.”

Talking about TVET training, the MP appealed for the strengthen of the agreement between Ghana and Germany for support to develop the skills of it youth in the Technical, Vocational and Education Training (TVET) sector Ghana.

Hon. Anno-Dompreh gifted the German Ambassador to Ghana smock to show him the rich culture in Ghana.

In response, Mr. Christoph Retziaff said “it is good to state that Ghana has actually become one of the main partners for Germany.

He emphasised that Ghana and Germany share the Same values and has a stable and strong democracy base on the respect for human right and rules of law.

He narrated that they will see to it that the developmental cooperation that is going on between the two countries since 60 years now will remain.

Mr. Christoph disclosed that they are looking forward to bring more private business to Ghana to create more job for the youth.

“In Ghana we have seen some remarkable progress over the years and we recall that we have for the first time in West Africa there is so called German-Africa Business summit and the signature event of the German business community were held in Accra in February 2019.
