In a surprising turn of events, Charlotte FC secured a remarkable victory over reigning champions Columbus Crew, halting their unbeaten streak, as US-born Ghanaian forward Patrick Agyemang found the back of the net for his first goal of the 2024 MLS season.

Columbus Crew, undefeated since mid-September, faced Charlotte FC at the Banc of America stadium in a highly anticipated clash.

However, their aspirations were dampened when Agyemang's compatriot Derrick Jones received a red card in the 26th minute, leaving the Crew with ten men.

Despite a disallowed goal and missed penalty opportunity for Columbus Crew, Charlotte FC capitalized on their numerical advantage in the second half.

Ashley Westwood broke the deadlock with a goal seven minutes from time, followed by Agyemang's decisive strike five minutes later, sealing victory for the hosts and marking Agyemang's first goal of the season.

Ghanaian midfielder Yaw Yeboah, also part of the action, featured for the Crew but was substituted at halftime, making way for Yevhen Cheberko in the second half.

The result not only ended Columbus Crew's unbeaten run but also showcased Charlotte FC's resilience and Agyemang's impact in the MLS.
