President John Dramani Mahama, yesterday, sworn into office two new deputy ministers as he charged his appointees to be circumspect in dealing with the citizenry.

He urged them to meaningfully serve Ghanaians, be tolerant and help in solving problems.

“Be modest,” he said, reminding them that “arrogance will not take you anywhere.”

The two he swore in are Mr. Emmanuel Bombande, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration, and Mr. Joseph Agmor Tetteh, Deputy Eastern Regional Minister.

Stressing on his appointees to be tolerant and accommodating, he reminded them of the perception among the populace that Ministers and Members of Parliament have the solution to all problems, especially in providing material things.

“It is a passing development phase, and until we pass that stage, you would have to understand and cope with the challenges the people bring to you.

“You must listen to all those who come to you. Assist the ones you can and find ways of helping others to seek solutions to problems that you do not have solutions to,” he said.

Turning his focus on the two new deputy Ministers, President Mahama congratulated them on their elevation, and urged them to diligently serve Ghanaians.

For Mr. Bombande, who is a former Executive Director of the West Africa Peace Building Network (WANEP), the President believed he would utilise his expertise gained in that area to deliver on his new assignment.

With regard to Mr. Joseph Tettey Angmor, a former District Chief Executive for Upper Manya-Krobo, President Mahama urged him to use his vast experience and knowledge in local governance to support the development of the Eastern Region.

Mr. Bombande, speaking on behalf of his colleague, thanked the President for the confidence reposed in them, and promised to deliver to justify their appointment.
