Majority Speaker and the Member of Parliament (MP) for Suame electoral area, Hon. Osei Kyei Mensa Bonsu has stated his displeasure over the fact that, nearly 100 MPs in Parliament are new.

He said that, this makes the administration of the State affairs quite difficult, and for this reason, he has called on political parties to help their MPs to hold office to ran the country's affairs.

He made the statement while he was addressing an audience at the Accra International Conference Center (AICC) on Monday at an event to mark 25 years of democracy and uninterrupted Parliamentary administration, Hon. Bonsu said, “There are challenges that we must admit to; workspace, lack of space, lack of quality and timely data, political equalisation as well as the perceived corruption of political class including MPs”.

Speaking on, the Majority Lawmaker of the Parliament said that, the way the MPs are drained of energies in their various constituencies  is so much worrying, indicating that, some members of the constituencies come up to make demands from their MPs.

He further called on the political parties to see to it that, the way in which experienced Parliamentarians are being voted out of office is being attended to, emphasizing that, the action only helps in retarding the growth of Parliament.

He also made mention of the fact that, to bring up refined Parliamentarians as himself and Hon. Alban Bagbin as they have been referred to needs grooming on the path of the parties the MPs are affiliated to.

Also speaking at the event was the Minority leader in Parliament Hon. Haruna Iddrisu, who also based his speech on the fact that the Presidential powers needed to be reduced.
