Salam Mustapha, the National Youth Organizer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), has taken a strong stance against Fiifi Kwetey, the General Secretary of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), for making derogatory and ethnic remarks directed at Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, the Vice President and flagbearer of the NPP.

Mustapha asserts that it is their responsibility as party members to defend the NPP's honor and that they will vehemently oppose any further attacks by the NDC on their flagbearer.

Speaking at a gathering of the NPP's student branch at the University of Cape Coast (UCC), Salam Mustapha said that if the attacks on Dr. Bawumia persist, they [NPP youth] will equally trash the NDC and their flagbearer, John Dramani Mahama.

"I don't know how a big party like the NDC voted for such a crazy tribal bigot as the general secretary of the NDC. Anytime Fiifi Kwetey speaks, it's either he's insulting or saying something relating to tribalism. In the last periods, he has been making very disparaging remarks about our flagbearer, and today, here and now, I declare a war of insults on the NDC, that not again will our presidential candidate be turned into a punching bar, it will not happen," he stated amidst cheers from the students and supporters present at the SMS auditorium.

He continued by saying that Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia does not deserve criticism or rude remarks from the general secretary of the NDC because he lacks credibility when it comes to telling the truth.

With the claim that Dr. Bawumia is the Ghanaian people's best chance, Salam Mustapha exploited the occasion to promote him. The NDC, he claimed, had nothing better for the people; thus, any attempts by the people to bring back John Mahama to power would be a risk.

Having played a key role in the campaign, the energized youth at UCC exuded confidence and optimism about their party's prospects of winning the next elections.
