The government of President Nana Akufo-Addo was put in the spotlight on twitter by Joy FM on Tuesday morning for assessment, but respondents to the swift poll generally gave the government a fair assessment.

The Kokomlemle-based media house posted a 2016 video of Vice President Bawumia, then running mate, highlighting numerous challenges different professional groups faced, and the FM station's twitter account accompanied with comments asking Ghanaians to share their present status, whether they were "still suffering", or whether they still face the challenges Dr. Bawumia mentioned in 2016.

Several people responded, and the vast majority of respondents gave the government positive and encouraging assessment, stating that the government's policies over the past 5 years have generally reduced challenges and sufferings Ghanaians faced prior to 2017.

The 5 year energy crisis between 2012 and and 2017 featured prominently, with respondents referring to its relative stability as one measure of improvement and reduction of suffering by the Akufo-Addo government.

Others also said that, in the past five years under the Akufo-Addo government, they have been relieved of the burden of having to suffer to pay the for the secondary school fees of thwir children.

Other government interventions which were referenced included, reduction of import duties, the lifting of embargo on recruitment to the public sector, youth-centred policies to create jobs, expansion of industries, restoration of allowances for teacher and nursing trainees, recruitment of qualified nursing and teacher trainees who were not hired by the previous government and government's covid interventions.

Digital lovers amongst the respondents also praised the Akufo-Addo government for its digital drive, which they said has created more opportunities and made things easier.

Meanwhile some respondents also took Joy FM on for pursuing a malicious campaign against the government, and in particular Dr Bawumia.

They questioned the motive of Joy FM for posting same video twice in 5 days.

Joy FM posted same video on Thursday August 12.
