South Africa may soon regulate all places of worship to stop what one of its commissions describes as “the commercialisation of religion and other dangerous practices.”

According to Al Jazeera, The Commission for the Promotion and Protection of the Rights of Cultural, Religious and Linguistic Communities – known as CRL for short – says vulnerable people are being taken advantage of by being promised blessings, for a price.

The commission is seeking to register religious leaders and also make using religion against people, a criminal offence.
