Portuguese giants, Sporting Lisbon have made an approach to English side Brighton about taking on loan right back Tariq Lamptey according to the Athletic.

Lisbon is on the verge of losing right-back Pedro Porro to Tottenham Hotspur who have been in negotiations with them for a while now about the defender.

The Portuguese side wants cover for that position and sees Lamptey as a perfect fit as he has struggled for game time this season.

Lamptey is not happy at Brighton and could leave the seagulls this transfer window with a lot of European teams admirers of the tenacious full-back.

The rampaging full-back has become a bit part player at the Amex stadium club with persistent injuries meaning that he has now fallen down the pecking order.

Lamptey joined the south coast club from English giants Chelsea some three seasons ago but his promising career has been blighted by persistent injuries.

Olympic Lyon have been credited with an interest in the Ghanaian defender if Malo Gusto departs to heavy spenders Chelsea this winter transfer window.

According to Fabrizio Romano, the player is keen to leave the Amex stadium where he has played just 16 matches and started just 5% with most of the appearances coming from the bench.

He has also been linked with a potential move to fellow English Premier League side Wolves as his stay with Brighton remains in doubt.

Lamptey, born in England to Ghanaian parents switches nationality to play for Ghana in July 2022 and featured for Ghana at the 2022 FIFA World Cup.
