The Minority in Parliament have called on Ken Ofori-Atta, the Minister for Finance to step down as Finance Minister for breaching the Constitution and the Public Financial Management Act issuing the US$2.25billion bond last year.

According to them, some aspects of the criminal code and some laws of state has been breached hence there is no need for the  Hon. Minster of Finance to remain in office.

They further stated that if Ofori-Atta refuses to step out of office as Finance Minister, they will be forced to invoke Article 82 of the Constitution to ensure his exit from office.

The Article 82 section 1 of the 1992 constitution states that, Parliament may, by a resolution supported by the votes of not less than two-thirds of all the members of Parliament, pass a vote of censure on a Minister of State.

More to come…
