Legendary former Hearts player and coach Mohammed Polo says that Hearts coach Slavko Matic must develop a winning formula at the club and not resort to seeing off old players.

According to Polo, driving out old players from the club is not the solution to their recent woeful run of form.

The Serbian trainer started very well at the club but since returning from his trip to his native Serbian the club has struggled.

Hearts have lost some key matches in the league and have also been dumped from the MTN FA Cup by Dreams FC.

Since taking charge, the club has also terminated the contracts of old heads like Fatawu Mohammed and Mohammed Alhassan in an apparent clear out of the old guard.

"How can a new coach just decide to sack players he thinks are ageing without thorough knowledge about them? If you cannot adopt a technical direction that will suit the players available to you as a coach, you will always have problems and that is the exact problem Hearts is confronted with.

"The players at Hearts are fantastic but it's the coach who needs to develop a strategy that will see Hearts winning. Sacking the players is not the solution." he told Kumasi-based Akoma FM.

The phobians are currently 4th in the league but are out of the MTN FA Cup a trophy they have won the last two years.
