A third suspect has been arrested by the Eastern Regional Police command in the murder of 24 year old businesswoman Rita Afia Adusei Pokuaa in Koforidua.

The accused identified only as Babule was picked up in his hideout in Koforidua on Wednesday  in the Eastern Region, following the swift arrest of two suspects namely  Francis Torgbega 36 years  and Iddi Mohammed alias Columbia two days ago.

Meanwhile the Police are still on a manhunt for a fourth suspect who is on the run.

Irate residents thronged the Koforidua District Magistrate Court ‘A’  when two suspected murderers of the 24-year-old businesswoman, made their first appearance in Court Tuesday, July 17, 2019.

Prosecutor, George Defia, prayed the court to remand them to enable the police to conduct further investigations. The Court Presided over by His Lorship Osei Asibey also granted application for bench warrant by the Prosecutor for the arrest of two other accomplices now at large.

Police personnel present in the court had a tedious time whisking away the accused persons into a taxi stationed at a corner of the court premises to swerve the angry residents.

That notwithstanding they chased and banged the taxi amidst raining of curses, hooting and threats to lynch them to revenge their heinous act.

The police were given a tip off that 36 year old Francis Torgbega was in possession of the deceased Rita Pokuaa's Techno mobile phone.

Upon his arrest, the police realized that the phone had pictures of the late businesswoman a fact which was corroborated by sister of the late Rita Pokuaa.

The deceased was found dead in the wee hours of Wednesday 10th July,2019 by a shop attendant in the bushes behind the SDA Educational Unit at Abrewa-Nkwanta, a suburb of Koforidua with her underwear pulled beyond her knee.

She is said to have left home on Tuesday, July 9 at about 7:00am for the shop but never returned, something they said was unusual of her hence reported the matter to the Effiduase Police Station.

Until the next day when they received news of her murder in the neighbourhood of Abrewa Mkwanta.

The two accused persons, Francis Torgbega, 36, and Iddi Mohammed alias Columbia, were remanded into Police Custody to reappear on July 30, 2019.
