Black Stars captain Andre Ayew was on target for his Qatari side Al Sadd on Tuesday in the 2-1 loss to Al Shamal in the Qatar All Stars League.

The League champions lost their home game after Ghana captain Andre Ayew had given his side the lead in the 7th minute of the game.

Al-Sadd fell to a 1-2 defeat to Al-Shamal, in the QNB Stars League Round 6 match that was held on Tuesday at Jassim bin Hamad Stadium.

With this result, Al-Sadd remain on 7 points, after two victories, a draw and three defeats.

Al Sadd went ahead through Andre Ayew in the 7th minute, before Amjad Atwan scored the equaliser for Al Shamal in the 20th minute from a penalty. Ali Alwan added the second goal for Al Shamal in the 34th minute.

It had seemed like a good start for the Wolves when Andre Ayew scored the first goal in the seventh minute, after a pass by Guilherme, was first controlled by Baghdad Bounedjah, before Ayew finished it off.

However, Al-Shamal equalised through Amjad Atwan in the 20th minute. The Iraqi dispatched a penalty which was awarded following a foul by Jung Woo-young on Ali Olwan.

Ali Olwan then put his side in the lead in the 34th minute, converting a cross from the right by Yacine Bammou.

It was a turning point which made things extremely difficult for Al-Sadd who tried to get back into the game but struggled to do so.

They came close with two significant chances in the second half, with Bounedjah’s 48th minute shot kept out by Al-Shamal keeper Babacar Seck while Guilherme’s attempt went out off the post in the 67th minute.

In the final few minutes, coach Juanma made his first change, replacing Abdullah Al-Yazidi with Hassan Ahmed, in order to strengthen the attack but even with five minutes of stoppage time, Al-Sadd were unable to find the equaliser.
