Women in Insurance Network of Ghana launched

In a bold move to reshape the narrative of gender representation in Ghana's insurance industry, the Women in Insurance Network of Ghana (WING) has emerged as a pioneering force. Despite women constituting 60% of the global insurance workforce, only 19% hold board seats, and a mere 12% secure top officer positions. WING aims to rewrite this script.

Global Challenges, Local Echoes

Ghana mirrors the global landscape with challenges of underrepresentation, limited professional growth, and unequal pay for women in insurance. The need for change spurred the creation of WING, a trailblazing, all-inclusive women's network determined to bridge these gaps.

WING Takes Flight

WING's grand inauguration brought together key players in the insurance industry, including the Actuarial Society of Ghana, CILAG, NIC, IBAG, GIA, CIIG, GIC, and Women Leadership in Insurance Africa. Prof. Takyiwaa Manuh emphasized the necessity of a unified voice to inspire women into higher professional and leadership positions across all sectors.

A Unified Vision

Championing inclusivity, WING opens its doors to women at various career stages, from insurance companies to brokerage firms and beyond. Mrs. Lena Adu-Kofi, the chair lady of WING, declared the network's openness to women in related sectors such as banks, hospitals, law firms, and more.

Leadership's Call to Action

The Acting Commissioner of Insurance, Mr. Kofi Andoh, highlighted the pivotal role of reaching out to every woman within and outside the insurance industry. Emphasizing mentorship and education, he underscored the importance of dispelling myths surrounding the industry, especially among the younger generation.

WING's Holistic Approach

WING goes beyond networking; it's a catalyst for change. Through mentoring, encouragement, promotion, and celebration of achievements, WING aspires to be a cornerstone for women's growth in the corporate world.

The Unveiling of WING's Mission:

WING isn't just a network; it's a movement. With a commitment to collaboration, empowerment, and information exchange, WING seeks to accelerate the acquisition of skills and knowledge. Values of equal recognition, consensus-driven decision-making, and prioritizing common issues are at the forefront.

As WING takes flight, it promises to celebrate, inspire, and empower the incredible women of the Ghanaian insurance industry. This platform, rooted in unity, strength, and knowledge, is set to contribute value to the industry while addressing social responsibilities. WING is not just a network; it's a force propelling women to new heights in the world of insurance.
