Arsenal have taken their eleventh-hour recruitment for the day to £52m after they confirmed the signing of Shkodran Mustafi from La Liga side Valencia on Tuesday night in a deal reportedly worth £35m.
Mustafi, 24, becomes the Gunners’ second signing of the day following the arrival of Lucas Perez from Deportivo La Coruna for £17m.

German centreback Mustafi also becomes Arsenal’s sixth signing of the summer, following the arrival of Granit Xhaka, Rob Holding, Takuma Asano – who has already joined Stuttgart on loan – and Kelechi Nwakali.

The club’s new intakes take Arsenal’s spending close to the £100m mark this summer as they look to compete with the Manchester clubs and Chelsea at the top of the Premier League.
