The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has handed out punishments to eleven African referees after they were implicated in an investigative piece by Ghanaian journalist Anas Aremeyaw Anas.

The eleven, who were caught in an alleged bribe scandal, have been banned from all CAF related  footballers activities.

Three other Ghanaian referees have been suspended pending investigations into their conduct by the disciplinary board of  CAF.

A statement by the Confederation of African Football said the sanctions were on the recommendation of the disciplinary board.

The undercover work by Anas on Ghana football and other countries led to the resignation of the football association president Kwesi Nyantakyi and dissolution of the association by government.
