CEO of defunct gold dealership Menzgold Ghana Limited, Nana Appiah Mensah has vehemently rubbished claims that has set his sights on vying for a political office in the country.

According to the young Ghanaian businessman, his generous act of helping society was to contribute his quota to society and not to seek political office.

Speaking in a press conference at the MJ Grand Hotel in Accra today Monday, August 19,2019, Mr Appiah stressed that he is fixated on only “missionary” work.

Earlier this year, rumours went rife that the embattled businessman is looking to run for the country’s presidency in 2020.

“I want to reiterate that I do not seek political office or power,” he said at his first presser since his return after his detention in Dubai.

“My goal towards contributing for the good of Ghana and Africa is missionary not mercenary,” NAM1 stated.

He said, “Clearly, my willingness to be misunderstood is the basis for [the] many criticisms and the exercise of brute force and skewed media reportage witnessed against our outfit in the last 12 months.”

“I am an entrepreneur and I remain as such,” the embattled CEO of Menzgold stressed.

He also commended the customers of the company for their patience.

“To our Menzgold customers, we note that you have experienced an increased level of anxiety and concern, but have been extremely understanding and patient with us through these trying times,” he said.

He added “We continue to recognize and respect your (the customers) sacrifice, please remember that your patience and support for us is not an entitlement, but something we earned by the way we worked with you diligently over the past years.”

According to NAM1, the patience of the customers would soon pay off “favorably soon.”

“Together, we are very conscious of our responsibilities towards you our cherished esteemed customers and we will do everything we can to individually and collectively meet your expectations,” he noted.

NAM1 has been accused of using Menzgold as a tool to defraud more than 16,000 people of GH¢1,680,920,000.

Prosecutors have accused Nana Appiah, his wife, Ms Rose Tetteh; and his sister, Ms Benedicta Mensah, of using Menzgold as a tool to defraud more than 16,000 people of GH¢1,680,920,000.
