The Black Stars may have to seek alternative venues outside Ghana if they are unable to play their crunch 2022 World Cup qualifier play off against Nigeria.

Ghana will host the Super Green Eagles of Nigeria in the first leg of the 2022 Qatar World Cup qualifiers.

Matches of the Black Stars have recently been played at the Cape Coast Stadium but the National Sports Authority(NSA) have notified the Ghana Football Association through the Ministry of Youth and Sports that the venue will not be available for use.

The Cape Coast Stadium will host Ghana's 65th Independence anniversary commemoration so it will be closed down to all sporting activities for repair works to be carried out at the facility.

In a recent release by the Confederation of African Football (CAF) of approved stadiums to host the World Cup qualifiers, Ghana had the Cape Coast Stadium and the Accra Sports Stadium as its venues.

The pitch at the Accra Sports Stadium has not been in the best of shapes and the GFA was handed a fine when Accra Hearts of Oak played their Africa interclub competitions there.

According to sources the recently renovated Baba Yara Sports Stadium has not been inspected by CAF's club licensing team which will give its approval for the use of the facility.

With all these issues at hand, Ghana has only the Cape Coast Stadium and if the government of Ghana does not agree to change the venue for the independence ceremony then Ghana may have to play the game on a neutral grounds outside the country.

Ghana will host Nigeria before playing the second leg in Abuja in a week's time with the matches coming off between March 22-29.
