Former Chelsea midfielder John Mikel Obi has tipped the English Premiership side to triumph over reigning European champions, Paris Saint-Germain and lift the 2025 FIFA Club World Cup.

The Blues eliminated Brazilian outfit, Fluminense to seal a final berth against PSG who whitewashed record European champions Real Madrid by 4-0 in their semifinal game to set up the final clash on Sunday, July 13.

Mikel, who spent eleven seasons at Chelsea and won the maiden UEFA Champions League title with the club in 2012 believes that his former side have a good team to go past the Parisians at the MetLife Stadium on Sunday, July 13 2025.

“We [Chelsea] are in the finals and of course we want to win it. We have won the Conference League, qualified for the Champions League and it is going to be incredible if we go on to win this FIFA Club World Cup,” said Mikel Obi.

“Of course it is going to be a treble winning trophy for us. Listen we have to win it, we are in the finals and we have to win, we have got a good team. He added.

“Two good teams are really playing good football and I think it’s going to come down to how the match plays out. At the end of the day it’s going to be some individual quality that is going to determine that game. We do have players that can create chances and score goals, Joao Pedro you’ve seen that, two goals in his debut but this PSG side the firepower that they have is going to be an amazing game for everybody to watch.”

A victory for Chelsea will lead to a season’s double for the 2022 FIFA Club World Cup champions, having won the UEFA Conference League title and the FIFA Club World Cup in their cabinet.

PSG are also eying a season’s treble of the UEFA Champions League, Coupe de France and the FIFA Club World Cup under the watch of Spanish tactician, Luis Enrique.
