The National Sports Authority (NSA) has revealed that Ghana’s 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifier against Mali in September generated approximately GHS 1.46 million in gate proceeds, underscoring the growing financial impact of the Black Stars’ campaign.

Speaking ahead of Sunday’s final Group I fixture against Comoros, NSA Director-General Yaw Ampofo Ankrah shared the breakdown:

  • 80% of revenue allocated to the Ministry of Sports and Recreation

  • 20% retained by the NSA, after deductions for:

  • Taxes

  • Pitch maintenance

  • Staff allowances

  • Security and medical services

With stadium capacity increasing to 35,000 — up from 26,000 during the Mali game due to completed maintenance — the NSA expects even higher gate proceeds for the Comoros clash.

Following their emphatic 5–0 win over the Central African Republic, the Black Stars are poised to seal qualification in front of a packed home crowd, blending sporting glory with economic momentum.
