A list of sixty-seven officials to be assigned to the newly created District Assemblies, to assume the role of Metropolitan, Municipal and District Coordinating Directors (MMDCDs), effective Monday 2nd April, 2018.

A letter sighted by Ghanaguardian from the Office of the Head of Local Government Service(OHLGS) and signed by its Head, Ing. Dr. Nana Ato Arthur directed the affected officers to report to their new post by March 15, 2018 for the inauguration of the assemblies.

The move comes on the heels of government’s creation of 38 new Metropolitan, Municipal and Districts, bringing the number of MMDAs in Ghana to 254 from the previous 216.

The Legislative Instrument(L.I) to back the creation of the new MMDAs was laid in Parliament by the Local Government Minister  Hajia Alima Mahama  on Thursday, November 16, 2017.
