President John Dramani Mahama has reaffirmed his administration’s unwavering commitment to holding former officials accountable and recovering state resources alleged to have been misappropriated.

Speaking at his first media engagement on Wednesday, September 10, President Mahama assured citizens that his government has not wavered in its pursuit of justice, emphasising that due process remains central to the effort.
“Public accountability and the recovery of looted state resources are at the top of your expectations of my government. Let me assure you, my fellow citizens, that we have not wavered in our commitment for a single moment."

He added, "Neither have we been complicit. What you are witnessing is not inaction but our firm adherence to due diligence and fairness in the pursuit of justice,” he said.

President Mahama acknowledged that the insistence on following proper legal procedures might appear time-consuming, but explained that it is crucial to uphold justice and prevent any compromises in the process.

The President also revealed that the Operation Recover All Loot (ORAL) Team has already made significant progress in its investigations. Currently, over 200 cases are under active investigation, with around 80 individuals having been interrogated so far.
“Our insistence on doing things properly may seem to have given temporary relief to those who have looted our resources. But let me be clear — it will not afford them a permanent escape. Active pursuit is underway across multiple fronts under ORAL, with over 200 cases being investigated and about 80 people already questioned,” he stated.
