The Electoral Commission has informed the public that 90 out of the 275 constituencies are ready, but will not rush in declaring them until the rest are in.

Speaking at a media briefing Thursday, the chairperson of the Electoral Management Body Mrs. Charlotte Osei appealed to anxious Ghanaians to “be patient” as the EC works around the clock to process the results.

“We are not changing results and will not manipulate results in anyway,” Mrs. Osei debunked assertions making rounds that the results are being compromised. According to her, the EC has put ice on the electronic transmission of results because they have strong conviction that “process has been compromised.”

Mrs. Osei stated the manual process being used to transmit the results now is very “credible” and called on the political parties to exercise restraint.

She said the 90 constituency results have not been signed by the candidate agents at the national collation centre as the agents demand for a copy of the pink sheets “before they can certify the results.”

“We don’t declare results based on declaration of political parties. We have had more polling stations than we have ever had” in previous elections hence the reason why the results are delaying.

“We are calling on all to exercise patience and prudence. 24 hours is not too long. We will urge stakeholders to exercise patience,” Mrs. Osei added.
