The John Agyekum Kufuor (JAK) Foundation has, in support of its fundraising drive, received a donation of GHC 20,000 from 9BS Group of Companies, a multinational conglomerate headquartered in Accra.
The donation, made by the company at a fundraising dinner held on Friday, is to support the JAK Foundation construct a leadership centre at the University of Ghana (UG) campus at Legon.
Additionally, the 9BS Group has offered to build three solar-powered mechanised boreholes at locations to be identified by the JAK Foundation, at the estimated cost of GHc 240, 000.
The Executive Chairman of the 9BS Group, Mr. Wabadang Vairi, explained in an interview that, his outfit was inspired to support the JAK Foundation because “we share the same vision.”
“When you look at their vision, it coincides with ours, which is to provide support, training and job opportunities to the youth,” Mr. Vairi indicated.
The 9BS Group is an international consulting, management, trade and investment conglomerate renowned for providing innovative solutions, services and products throughout Africa.
The company, with offices in HongKong and Dubai, specialises in financial engineering and projects geared towards socio-economic transformation, with a principled work ethic guided by environmental stewardship, cultural diversity and social responsibility.
Mr. Viari described the three boreholes as part his outfit’s corporate social responsibility, indicating that: “We will go the Foundation and discuss with them the procedures and timelines.”
Hopefully, he said, the company intended to complete the three boreholes before December this year, and hand them over to the Foundation as former President Kufuor’s 80th birthday present.
The JA Kufuor Foundation has set in motion a campaign to raise GHc 80 million to support some projects which former President Kufuor has set out to construct and give to the country.
The projects include the construction of a leadership centre at the Legon campus of the University of Ghana, scholarship scheme for brilliant but needy students, and a climate change project.
The projects are inspired by the former President Kufuor’s passion for practical and sustainable development, and they aim at advancing effective leadership, good governance and socio-economic development.
